This policy explains what cookies Fantasy Powerlifting uses, why we use them, and what that means for you. We comply with the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR.
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and — in some cases — track behaviour for advertising purposes.
Not all cookies are equal. Under UK law (PECR), cookies that are “strictly necessary” to provide a service you have requested can be set without asking for consent. Cookies used for analytics, marketing, or preferences require your explicit consent before being set.
Fantasy Powerlifting does not use advertising cookies, third-party tracking cookies, or analytics cookies that require consent under PECR. You will not see a cookie consent banner on this site — that is a deliberate choice, not an oversight.
The cookies and local storage we use are strictly necessary for authentication and basic error monitoring. Sentry uses browser local storage rather than cookies for session tracking; client-side performance tracing and session replay are disabled.
| Cookie name | Set by | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| sb-[ref]-auth-token | Supabase | Strictly necessary | Stores your authentication session token. This is what keeps you signed in between visits. The cookie contains an encrypted session reference — not your email or any personal data in readable form. | 7 days, or until you sign out |
| sb-[ref]-auth-token.0 / .1 | Supabase | Strictly necessary | Supabase splits large auth tokens across multiple cookies where needed. These serve the same purpose as the auth-token cookie above. | 7 days, or until you sign out |
All cookies listed above are first-party cookies (set on the fantasypowerlifting.com domain, not by third parties). They are HTTP-only, which means they cannot be accessed by JavaScript running in your browser — this is a security measure to protect your session from certain types of attack.
In addition to cookies, the following tools use your browser's local storage. Local storage is similar to cookies in that it persists data in your browser, but it is not transmitted with every request to our server in the same way cookies are. PECR's consent requirements apply to cookies specifically; local storage falls under broader UK GDPR legitimate interests grounds where the data collected is necessary for the service.
| Storage key | Set by | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| __sentry_* / sentry-* | Sentry | Sentry's JavaScript SDK uses local storage to maintain a session identifier. This allows Sentry to group related errors from the same browser session together, making it easier to diagnose bugs. It does not track you across sites or build a profile of your behaviour. The data sent to Sentry on errors includes browser type, operating system, the page you were on, and a diagnostic error trace. Sentry is configured not to receive IP addresses, request headers, or request bodies. | Session-based; cleared when the browser session ends or after a period of inactivity |

If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future — for example, analytics to understand how the Platform is being used — we will update this policy and introduce a proper consent mechanism before setting those cookies. We will not set non-essential cookies without your explicit agreement. We will notify registered users by email if we make material changes to our cookie use.
Although we only use strictly necessary cookies, you can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that if you delete or block the authentication cookies listed above, you will be signed out of your account and will need to sign in again.
Browser cookie settings can usually be found at:
More information about managing cookies is available at allaboutcookies.org and the ICO's cookies guidance at ico.org.uk.
In addition to the Sentry session storage described in section 4 above, the Platform uses your browser's local storage to save interface preferences (for example, your last-used sort order in the team builder). These preference values contain no personal data and are used solely for your convenience.
If you have questions about our use of cookies or this policy, contact us at info@strengthanalytics.co.uk. You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk if you are concerned about how we use cookies or handle your data.
